ABOUT AMITABH BACHCHAN:

Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian Actor born on 11 October 1942 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.

He was born to a well know poet of India, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. He also have a Brother named Ajitabh. He studied at Allahabad's Jnana Prabodhini and Boys' High School, and then he went to Nainital's Sherwood College, where he majored in the art stream. He later went on to study at Kirori Mal College of the University of Delhi and completed a Bachelor of Science degree.


After completing his studies at Uttar Pradesh he moved to Bombay to find work as a Film star. In film industry the producers didnt wanted to take Amitabh as they preferred a fairer skin, which he was not. But they used his voice for narrating and background commentary. He was cast in Saat Hindustani. He got a break in Bollywood after a letter of introduction from Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, as he was a friend of her son Rajiv Gandhi. This is how he made his entry in Bollywood. He got married with Jaya . They have two childrens Shweta and Abhishek.

Career:

He made his first debut in 1969 as a voice narrator in film Bhuvan Shome. Then after he got his first acting role as one of the seven protagonists in Saat Hindustani. This film did not went well but gave him his first National Film Award for Best Newcomer. Then on year 1971 he was starred as supporting role in film Anand, with Rajesh Khanna which again gave him a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. Then later that year he played his first negetive role in Parwaana. Then he made serveral films that year later. He narrated a part of film Bawarchi. He also made guest appearance in movie Guddi starring Jaya Bhaduri.

In year 1973 he played as a Inspector in film Zanjeer. He was nominated for Best Actor for this movie. Later that year he married with Jaya and made many films together. Then he starred in film Namak Haraam for which he won his second Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.In year 1974, Bachchan made several guest appearances in films such as Kunwara Baap and Dost, before playing a supporting role in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Then on December 1974 for the film Majboor he played a leading role. It went average on box office.

Then in 1975, he made a comedy film Chupke Chupke. Then soon after he made films like Faraar, Mili. Then he came in film Deewar for which he was Nominated for Best Actor. It was a hit film of the year 1975, which was been ranked 4 in Indiatimes Movies. Later that year he played in film Sholay which became the highest grossing film of all time in India, earning INR 2,36,45,00,000. It was decared as the "Film of the Millennium" by BBC India. Then he made some comedy films like Amar Akbar Anthony on year 1977 and in films such as Kabhie Kabhie on year 1976. For film Kabhie Kabhie again he was nominated for Best Actor Award. Then for Amar Akbar Anthony he won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award. Then he appeared in double role in films such as Kasme Vaade and Don for which he again won his second Filmfare Best Actor Award. He also performed in Trishul and Muqaddar Ka Sikander which both earned him further Filmfare Best Actor nominations.

Then in 1979 he turned into singer and sung a song for film Mr. Natwarlal. He again got nominated for Filmfare Best Actor Award and also for Filmfare Best Male Playback Awards.In 1979, he also received Best Actor nomination for Kaala Patthar and then nominated again in 1980 for the film Dostana. Dostana declared the top grossing film of 1980.

In year 1981, he starred in Yash Chopra's melodrama film Silsila, and some other movies like Ram Balram on year 1980, Shaan on year 1980, Lawaaris on year 1981, and Shakti on year 1982.

On 26 July 1982, while filming Coolie in the University Campus in Bangalore, Bachchan suffered a near fatal intestinal injury during the filming of a fight scene with co-actor Puneet Issar. He was performing his own stunts in the film where he have to fall on a table and then ground. While jumping on table, the cornor of that table stuck in his abdomen, He bleeded and lost some amount of blood, soon after he went under an emergency splenectomy and remained in critical situation for months, close to death. The public prayed for his soon recovery. Then he finished the movie after a long rest.

Then he decided to take a break from Bachchan and entered in the field of Politics to support his long time friend, Rajiv Gandhi. He contested Allahabad's sear of 8th Lok Sabha against H. N. Bahuguna, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and won by the one of the highest victory margins in general election history. Then after 3 years he resigned. However resignation was followed by the implication of Bachchan and his brother in the "Bofors scandal" by a newspaper, which he vowed to take to court. Bachchan was eventually found not guilty of involvement in the ordeal.

Again on 1988 he made a returned in bollywood and made a film Shahenshah, which went in huge success. then on 1991 he made another film Hum which went hit and he won his third Filmfare Best Actor Award. After release of Khuda Gawah in 1992 he made a semi retirement for around 5 years.

He now turned into Producer during his Temporary retirement period and set up a company named Amitabh Bachchan Corporation, Ltd. (A.B.C.L.) in 1996. ABCL's strategy was to introduce products and services covering the entire section of the India's entertainment industry. Soonafter the company was launched, they produced a film Tere Mere Sapne which failed on box office but launched the career of actor, Arshad Warsi.

In year 1997, Bachchan cameback in movie Mrityudaata, which was produced by ABCL which was again a flop. Then Bachchan attempted to revive his acting career and had a average success with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan on year 1998, and received positive reviews for Sooryavansham in year 1999 but other films such as Lal Baadshah in year 1999 and Hindustan Ki Kasam in year 1999 were box office failures.

In year 2000, Bachchan came into small screen hosting a game show "kaun banega crorepati". Amitabh Bachchan hosted KBC till November 2005. In year 2000 he starred in film Mohobbatein which gave him his third Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. After that he gave some good hit movie like Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love in year 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in year 2001 and Baghban in year 2003.

In year 2005 he acted in film Black which won his second National Film Award for Best Actor and fourth Filmfare Best Actor Award.In 2005 and 2006, he starred with his son Abhishek in the hit films Bunty Aur Babli in year 2005, Sarkar in year 2005 and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna in year 2006. All of them were successful at the box office. Then later in 2006 and 2007 he starred Baabul, Eklavya and Nishabd which failed to do well at the box office.

In May 2007 he worked in multi starrer film Shootout at Lokhandwala which was a hit on box office. Later he worked with Ram Gopal Varma in film Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag which was declared a major flop on box office. Then he acted in film Bhoothnath as a ghost. In the same year he also worked with the sequel of film Sarkar named Sarkar Raj and got a positive responce at box office.

Then in year 2009, a movie called Paa released playing his own son Abhishek's Progeria-affected 13-year-old son, It won him his third National Film Award for Best Actor and fifth Filmfare Best Actor Award.
