Salman Khan is an Indian film actor, born n 27 December 1965 at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His full name is Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan.


He is the eldest son of bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan and Salma who is the first wife of his father. His stepmother is a former Bollywood actress Helen. He has two brothers, bollywood actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and two sisters Alvira and Arpita.



He finished his schooling at Saat. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai.


He was voted as 7th best-looking man in the world by People magazine, U.S in 2004. Madame Tussauds wax museum in London offered Salman to have a wax replica made of himself. He is the fourth Indian actor to have been replicated as a wax statue in the museum.


Salman Khan faced lots of Legal troubles. On 28 September 2002, he was arrested for rash driving in Mumbai where one person died who was sleeping on the pavement and three persons were injured. But later he was found not guilty.


On 17 February 2006, he was sentenced to one year prison for haunting an animal Chinkara while shooting for movie Hum Saath Saath Hain. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal.On 10 April 2006, Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the Chinkara. On 24 August 2007, the Jodhpur sessions court, upheld the 5 year jail term for Khan in the Chinkara.On 31 August 2007, Khan was released on bail from the Jodhpur Central jail where he spent six days.


In 2007, a Muslim organisation issued a fatwa against Khan for attending a Ganesh puja. But Salman celebrated the Ganesh Mahotsav with his family in Bandra; they brought a Ganesh idol for one day. His father responded by criticising the fatwa and stated that Salman had done nothing wrong.


Again another fatwa was raised for allowing Madame Tussauds in London to make a wax model of himself. Salman responded by saying, "These fatwas are becoming a joke".


Career


Salman Khan made a debut with a small role in the drama Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988). Then he got a chance sa a lead actor in Sooraj R. Barjatya's romantic family drama Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) for which he won a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award.


Then in 1990, he had another release Baaghi: A Rebel for Love paired with Nagma which was box office success. In 1992-1993 he had 3 releases Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa and Saajan.


He returned back in 1994 with Sooraj Barjatya's romantic movie Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, co-starring Madhuri Dixit which was the biggest hit of that year, and one of Bollywood's highest grossing films ever, becoming the fourth-highest earner of all time. Then he got success with Andaz Apna Apna, alongside co-star Aamir Khan.


In 1995 he achieved his with Rakesh Roshan's blockbuster Karan Arjun, co-starring alongside Shahrukh Khan.The film was the second biggest hit of the year, and his role of Karan once again put his name among the nominees for the Best Actor award at the Filmfare.


He went on to star in some of Hindi cinema's most successful films of those times, such as Judwaa (1997), Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) and Biwi No.1 (1999), having appeared in the highest earning films of seven separate years during his career.


In 1999, Khan won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his extended appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and since then has starred in several critical and commercial successes, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), No Entry (2005), Partner (2007), Wanted (2009) and Dabangg (2010), which has become the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of all-time
